What Youll Do
  • Coordinates the music therapy treatment program with other therapy programs treatment provided by other treatment team members
  • Develops a general music education program for residentspatients
  • Maintains a music library and necessary materials equipment and supplies
  • As a member of the treatment team participates in the formulation of interdisciplinary treatment plans
  • Provides in service training for other staff members
  • Maintains records and prepares reports and correspondence related to the work
  • Maintains regular predictable consistent attendance and is flexible to meet the needs of the department
Qualifications
  • Board certified as a music therapist if required by state law
  • Holds a professional license in music therapy if required by state law
  • Knowledge of musical theory and music instruction methods
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of music therapy
  • Ability to assess the effectiveness of a therapeutic music program
  • Ability to read music and play a musical instrument make simple musical arrangements test and classify voices and direct vocal and instrumental ensembles
  • Valid drivers license with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state requirements
