Position Summary

General Summary/Responsibilities:

  • Independently performs diagnostic cardiac echocardiology procedures utilizing proper techniques and protocols.
  • Works under their scope of practice and in accordance with registry in the operation of equipment.
  • Coordinates patient flow and the activities of the Cardiopulmonary Department.
  • Exercises professional judgment in the performance of duties in order to maintain equipment in good working condition.
  • May perform other cardiology procedures in other modalities based on departmental needs. Will have on call responsibilities.

Licensure/Certification /Registration
  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer credentialed by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) or by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
  • CPR Certification required within 30 days of hire

    Three years of clinical experience in all facets of echocardiography and demonstrate appropriate competencies.

Knowledge/Skills
  • Proficient in performing diagnostic procedures and obtaining diagnostic images for physician interpretation
  • Proficient in Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
  • Proficient in Cardiology Information Systems
Working Conditions:
  • Must be able to push, pull, and assist in lifting up to 300 pounds (both patients and equipment)
  • May be exposed to aggressive, violent behaviors from patients, family members, and/or visitors
  • May be exposed to blood and body fluids, including those with tuberculosis, HIV, hepatitis, or body infestations
  • Must be able to work under stressful conditions which may occur in emergency situations or with a heavy workload
