Registered Nurse (RN) – Hospice On Call / After-Hours
Location: Dayton, OH and surrounding areas
Schedule: 3x12-Hour Shifts per Week (Includes Every Other Weekend)

- Three 12-hour shifts per week
- Includes every other weekend rotation

The Hospice On Call RN provides after-hours clinical support
, managing patient and family needs through care coordination, and in-person support
. This role plays a critical part in ensuring patients receive timely, compassionate care and symptom management outside of standard business hours
.
- Perform after-hours for hospice patients and families via phone and/or in-person visits
- Assess clinical symptoms and patient needs
, including physical, emotional, social, and spiritual factors - Coordinate appropriate interventions and care services based on patient condition
- Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary team members, and community partners
- Provide end-of-life support
, including performing clinical pronouncements of death - Deliver compassionate guidance and emotional support to patients, families, and caregivers
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and care plan updates
- Ensure compliance with hospice regulations and standards of care
- Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing (RN) program
- Current RN license in the state of Ohio
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (hospice, home health, ER, ICU, or med-surg preferred)
- Strong clinical judgment and triage skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage complex, high-emotion situations with compassion and professionalism
- Current BLS certification
- Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance
- Experience in hospice, palliative care, or after-hours/on-call nursing
- Familiarity with symptom management and end-of-life care protocols
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR)
