Position: HVAC/Refrigeration Technician – Full‑time with 80‑hour pay. Works 7:00am–3:30pm in Building Maintenance at Miami Valley South Hospital.

Responsibilities
  • Perform repairs, preventive maintenance, monitoring, and testing of HVAC, Medical Gas, and Refrigeration equipment.
  • Maintain operation, cleanliness, and safety of all HVAC/Refrigeration/Med‑Gas equipment associated with hospital infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC) requirements.
  • Participate in department and craft meetings and use correct safety work habits.
  • Be available onsite for all emergencies, shutdowns, or repairs as requested.
  • Provide prompt and courteous service to customers and communicate effectively with all staff levels.
  • Exercise independent judgment under Premier Health’s quality, customer satisfaction, positive work environment, and financial stewardship goals.
Education
  • Minimum:
    High School Diploma or GED.
  • Preferred:
    Associate degree, Technical School or Apprentice program graduate.
Licensure/Certification /Registration
  • Universal Refrigerant Certification.
Experience
  • Minimum 5–7 years of job‑related experience, at least five years in the HVAC trade.
  • General construction/maintenance experience on HVAC, refrigeration, and medical gas systems.
  • Preferred:
    Hospital maintenance experience.
Knowledge/Skills
  • Excellent guest relations and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and instruction manuals.
  • Proficient in performing multiple tasks, mathematical skills, reading/writing reports, and effective communication.
  • Computer and software training relevant to Plant Operations and Engineering.
  • General knowledge of healthcare‑related codes and standards: NFPA
    101, OSHA, other NFPA codes, TJC, Ohio Building Code (OBC), etc.
  • Working knowledge of a Building Automation System (BAS) and its components.
  • Operating equipment for installation, repair, and maintenance of HVAC/Refrigeration/Medical Gas equipment; DDC control service and repairs; proper refrigerant handling and disposal procedures; project planning and management; accurate record keeping.
  • Universal refrigerant certification required.
  • Adaptability to changing work priorities, ability to communicate with diverse groups, meet deadlines and schedules, collaborate as a team, handle constant interruptions, mechanical aptitude, and compliance with OSHA regulations.
