Position Summary:

Reports to the Manager, Employee Benefits supporting leave of absence administration and other benefits related tasks. Is a key subject matter expert for leave of absence related activities including FMLA, disability, state/local mandated disability/leave, military and personal leaves. Works closely with employees, site management, human resources (HR), legal, payroll, and vendor partners to ensure the successful administration of leave of absence related activities.

Essential Functions:

  • Work closely with employees, management, and HR in a confidential manner to determine leave of absence needs.
  • Be the main point of contact for the employee, supervisor, and HR manager during an employee's LOA.
  • Provide necessary communications and documentation to employees requesting leave of absence including leave brochures and other LOA related documentation.
  • Ensure compliance and proper maintenance of employee LOA related files and documentation.
  • Document, in detail, all aspects involving an assigned employee's LOA to ensure regulation and company policy compliance and to assist legal, upon request.
  • Work closely with leave administration vendor partner to ensure proper case filing and monitoring throughout an employee's leave. Work with vendor to resolve issues.
  • Monitor internal Outlook mailbox for leave vendor communications.
  • Work closely with employees and HR manager and follow-up as necessary involving leave case failures (i.e. extension requests, denied leave, etc.). Provide appropriate information involving timelines for employees to submit supporting documentation for leave requests.
  • Respond in a timely manner to all disability carrier inquiries and other non-medical leave requests.
  • Coordinate with employees, supervisor, and HR manager to determine expected and actual return to work date and work closely with site management to ensure the return to work process goes smoothly.
  • It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration or related field or directly employee benefits related experience.
  • Strong preference towards a candidate with FMLA and state-mandated paid and unpaid leave administration experience.
  • Demonstrate reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills including ability to interact and communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Must have strong presentation skills with ability to present to large groups and in one-on-one situations.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office 365.
  • Unless waived by management, valid driver's license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record.
