Hogan & Associates Construction has an immediate opening for a Field Mechanic
. The Field Mechanic will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of a wide range of construction equipment on job sites. This role is crucial to ensuring that all machinery and vehicles are in optimal working condition, contributing to the efficiency and safety of our construction projects.
- Equipment Maintenance and Repair:
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance on construction equipment, including but not limited to excavators, bulldozers, forklifts, and generators.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues and carry out repairs in the field or coordinate repairs with off-site facilities as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, ensuring compliance with company standards and safety regulations.
- Troubleshooting and Diagnostics:
- Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and resolve equipment malfunctions.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns on-site to minimize downtime and ensure project timelines are met.
- Safety Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, ensuring that all repairs and maintenance work meet OSHA and company safety standards.
- Conduct safety inspections on equipment and report any potential hazards or violations.
- Inventory Management:
- Maintain an inventory of necessary tools, parts, and supplies required for field repairs.
- Order and restock parts as needed to ensure minimal disruption to project workflows.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with project managers, equipment operators, and other field staff to coordinate maintenance schedules and minimize impact on project timelines.
- Provide training and support to equipment operators on proper use and maintenance of machinery.
- High school diploma or GED required; technical school certification in mechanics or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a mechanic, preferably in the commercial construction industry.
- Extensive knowledge of construction equipment, including hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in the field.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred.
- Certifications in equipment repair and maintenance are a plus (e.g., ASE, CAT).
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 75 lbs.).
- Comfortable working in various weather conditions and on active construction sites.
Minimum of 8 hours per day, minimum of 40 hours per week and overtime as necessary or until work is completed. Shifts (day, swing and night) and work assignments may vary as deemed necessary by management.
Related Safety ResponsibilitiesMust become familiar and compliant with Hogan’s safety program and OSHA regulations. Must maintain fitness level sufficient to handle his/her required work load.
