Position Overview:
The Central Falls School District seeks to hire a talented, knowledgeable, and highly innovative certified educator to fill the Fifth Grade Classroom Teacher Position at Veterans Memorial Elementary for the 26-27 school year. General Duties:
- Full classroom responsibilities include planning and implementing high-quality math, literacy, science, social studies, and SEL instruction that is accessible to the individual needs of all students.
- Creates and implements a compelling vision of the curriculum, teaching, and learning standards and practices that align with the Common Core and WIDA 2020 Standards and will result in college and career readiness for each and every student.
- Will implement, develop, and manage students and all of their provided services, including assigned Individualized Education Programs (IEP) and co-teaching (as needed) in accordance with all State and Federal Regulations.
- Collaborate as part of a teaching team as indicated by student needs and/or IEPs. Cooperatively plan, teach, and engage as part of a team with other educators by providing services in or outside the classroom to meet IEP needs.
- Incorporates students’ backgrounds and experiences to improve performance and enhance instruction by using a variety of techniques to ensure content concepts are comprehensible and advance students’ literacy.
- Develop and implement classroom and curricular accommodations and modifications for all students, including language development adaptations for MLLs.
- Implement district-approved curriculum, instruction, and assessments aligned with Rhode Island State Standards and WIDA 2020.
- Integrate WIDA 2020 standards into the core content curriculum to meet their Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing English Language Proficiency (ELP) goals. May be responsible for teaching Dedicated English Language Development (ELD) with district-approved ELD curriculum.
- Use evidence-based practices and strategies to deliver English instruction based on students’ WIDA performance levels and the WIDA 2020 ELD standards.
- Ability to identify new approaches and strategies to learning and teaching that stimulate critical thinking and problem-solving techniques.
- Provides instructional support to scaffold language and content domains, delivering rich, authentic instruction for all students.
- Uses various assessment information to plan instruction and set all academic goals, plans, activities, and actions in the best interest of each student.
- Cultivates a stewardship of collaborative learning and leadership in and out of the classroom, distributing knowledge and expertise in a skillful way that empowers and supports others.
- Consistently practice a growth mindset, demonstrating a strong class culture and using feedback to reflect and set goals.
- Fulfils high academic standards and shares expertise constantly with support personnel, colleagues, and staff to ensure that all student academic and social/emotional needs are met and regularly provided; specifically, collaborating with special education and MLL colleagues to provide accommodations outlined in a student’s IEP when needed and collaborating with staff to align curriculum with Common Core and WIDA 2020 Standards Framework.
