Segue Institute for Learning Public Charter School District is a Public Charter School District. Position:
Certified Teacher – High School History/Social Studies.

Location:

Legacy Charter High School – Pawtucket, RI. The role is a Full‑Time position for an 11‑month year.

Position Overview

The Segue Institute for Learning seeks a dedicated and qualified Certified Teacher for High School History/Social Studies to join our team. The position supports the district’s mission of providing high‑quality education to all students. Ideal candidates are passionate about education, committed to student success, and capable of working collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

General Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement rigorous unit and lesson plans with high‑quality curriculum material to meet Common Core State Standards.
  • Set clear expectations, routines, and procedures to ensure productive and efficient use of class time.
  • Administer formative and summative assessments to inform instructional practices and provide feedback to students.
  • Establish and model the district’s core values in all communication and interaction with students, staff, and families.
  • Demonstrate exceptionally strong instructional and classroom management skills.
  • Differentiates classroom instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including students with disabilities and multilingual learners, and provides accommodations and scaffolding instruction where appropriate.
  • Center classroom management and student behavior in PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Support) and Restorative Justice practices.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, families, and other professionals on a regular basis.
  • Ensure that student growth and achievement is continuous and appropriate for age group, subject area, and/or program classification.
  • Assume responsibility for meeting course and school‑wide student performance goals.
  • Regularly communicate with families through phone calls, emails, and face‑to‑face meetings about student growth and performance.
  • Create, cultivate positive relationships and community with all members of the school community.
  • Lead an advisory cohort that provides guidance, advocacy, Individual Learning Plan (ILP), and transition to college, as well as instruction in Social‑Emotional Learning (SEL) standards.
  • Support school safety and student learning through a school‑wide Multi‑Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).
  • Collaborate with coaches and administrative team to improve instructional, culture‑building, and leadership skills.
  • Actively participate in all professional learning, team planning, calibration, and data analysis meetings.
  • Participate and engage in structured and informal learning and development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with other staff members and actively participate in training, professional learning, and leading activities.
  • Engage in educational development practices founded in equity and access for all students.
  • Support daily school operations as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by administration.
