Elementary School, Special Education Teacher

This full-time, contract position focuses on supporting students in grades 3-4 with developmental disabilities (LS) in a nurturing learning environment. With a small class size (fewer than eight students) and a favorable 1:3 teacher assistant support ratio, you’ll have the opportunity to implement effective individualized instructional strategies, while benefiting from substantial training provided at the start of the year.
Qualificationsand Desired Experience
- Valid Special Education teaching license in RI or MA (mild-moderate or severe)
- Experience or strong interest in working with elementary students with developmental disabilities
- Commitment to collaborative approaches and ongoing professional development
- Strong communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills
- Design and deliver individualized instruction for a small group of students in grades 3-4
- Adapt lesson plans to accommodate a variety of learning needs and abilities
- Work closely with a team of teaching assistants (1:3 ratio) to ensure comprehensive support for each child
- Track student progress and communicate regularly with families and multidisciplinary team members
- Participate in professional training and development throughout the school year
- Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment
- Full‑time, 37.5 hours per week at a single school site
- Dedicated training and professional growth opportunities for the upcoming school year
- Support from para educators and other specialists as provided by the district
