The Central Falls School District seeks to hire a talented, knowledgeable, and highly innovative certified educator to fill the Special Education Inclusion position at Calcutt Middle School for the 26/27 SY. Position Requirements /

Qualifications:
  • Valid Rhode Island Department of Education Certification:
    Special Education for Grades 6-8, required
  • Possible options are the following:
    Secondary Special Education Grades 7-12, or Elementary or Middle school endorsement for grades 6-8, Mild/Moderate grades 1-6
  • Valid Rhode Island Department of Education Certification:
    Secondary ELA or Math content areas, preferred
  • Valid Rhode Island Department of Education Certification in All Grades ESOL is required. If the applicant does not currently hold this certification, they are required to obtain an emergency certification and complete it within three (3) years.
  • Certificate of Proficiency Level training in the Science of Reading and Structured Literacy is required.
  • Demonstrate evidence of deep content and pedagogical knowledge in differentiating the curriculum to support student access to the curriculum.
  • Experience successfully teaching students with disabilities and/or multilingual learners is greatly preferred.

  • Commitment to abiding by all professional teaching standards and policies as outlined by the Rhode Island Department of Education and the District’s policies, procedures, and the CFTU collective bargaining agreement.
  • Under Rhode Island General Law 16-2-18.1, all NEWLY hired employees will be required to obtain a State and National background check (BCI) from the Rhode Island Attorney General's Office prior to the employment start date.

Please Note: When applicable and following RIDE licensure requirements, the District is open to exploring emergency certification if needed.

Position Responsibilities and Expectations:
  • Collaborate as part of a teaching team in an inclusive model with the classroom teacher(s) and other personnel as indicated by student needs and/or IEPs. Cooperatively plan, teach, and engage as part of a team with other educators by providing services in or outside the classroom to meet IEP needs.
  • Create and implement a compelling vision of the curriculum, teaching, and learning standards and practices that align with Common Core Standards and the student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP).
  • Will implement, develop, and manage students and all of their provided services, including assigned Individualized Education Programs (IEP) in accordance with all State and Federal Regulations.
  • Incorporates students’ backgrounds and experiences to improve performance and enhance instruction. Uses a variety of techniques to ensure content concepts are comprehensible and advance studen ts’ numeracy and li teracy.
  • Develop and implement classroom and curricular accommodations and modifications for all students, including language development adaptations for ELLs.
  • Ability to identify new approaches and strategies to learning and teaching that stimulate critical thinking and problem-solving techniques.
  • Provides instructional support to help scaffold language and content domains to deliver rich, authentic instructions for all students.
  • Uses various assessment information to plan instruction and set all academic goals, plans, activities, and actions in the best interest of each student.
