Primary Purpose

To support the Nursery Manager and Room Leader in the daily running and management of a designated room, ensuring the highest standards of care, education, and practice are consistently maintained in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and nursery policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership & Supervision:
    Act as the Deputy to the Room Leader, providing supervision and direction to the room team. Take full responsibility for the room in the absence of the Room Leader.
  • Curriculum Implementation:
    Drive the effective implementation of the EYFS curriculum, ensuring high-quality planning, observations, and assessments are carried out for all children.
  • Quality Assurance:
    Monitor and evaluate practice within the room, ensuring all safeguarding, health and safety, and nursery policies are adhered to.
  • Team Development:
    Support staff development through mentoring, role-modeling best practice, and contributing to performance reviews.
  • Parent Partnership:
    Maintain strong and professional communication with parents/carers regarding their child’s progress and daily life in the nursery.
  • Administration:
    Assist with administrative duties related to room management, staff deployment, and maintaining accurate child records.
Essential Requirements
  • Full and relevant Early Years Level 3 qualification (or higher).
  • Proven experience working in a supervisory or leadership role within a nursery setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of the EYFS framework, statutory requirements, and current safeguarding procedures.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
