Hotel Management
Hidden away between Soho and Chinatown, you’ll find The Blue Posts, where Londoners have been drinking for nearly 300 years.
Today, the building is home to three very different hospitality experiences. On the ground floor sits The Blue Posts itself: a lively Soho pub specialising in independently brewed beers, great drinks and warm, energetic hospitality. Upstairs is The Mulwray, our intimate wine and cocktail bar, while downstairs you’ll find Evelyn’s Table, our Michelin-starred twelve-seat kitchen counter.
Three floors. Three distinct identities. One brilliantly unique operation.
We are looking for an exceptional Assistant General Manager to join the senior team in leading the building.
This is a role for a genuine hospitality all-rounder – someone who loves the detail of service, understands beverage, enjoys the mechanics of running a business and is excited by having a lot going on around them.
It would particularly suit a hospitality leader who has ambitions to grow into a future operations role and wants exposure to more than one style of venue.
The role:
As Assistant General Manager, you’ll work closely with the General Manager and floor leaders to lead the day-to-day operation of the entire building – bringing together three very different hospitality businesses across three floors.
This is a broad, hands-on leadership role with real responsibility. You’ll help set standards, lead and develop the team, drive service and hospitality, support commercial performance and make sure the many mobbing parts of the building work brilliantly together.
You’ll be:
An energetic leader: You’ll have presence, pace and positivity, with the ability to motivate the people around you. You’ll be visible in service, confident making decisions and able to bring teams with you – particularly when the building is at its busiest.
Standards champion: Whether it’s getting the pub ready for service, the way a guest is welcomes, the quality of a drink or the detail of a Michelin-starred service, you’ll notice the things that matter. You’ll set clear expectations and help the teams consistently deliver them.
A strong leader: You’ll be a strong, emotionally intelligent leader who builds trust quickly. You’ll coach and develop individuals, handle difficult conversations well and create a culture where people feel supported while remaining accountable.
Excited by the breadth of the operation: The Blue Posts gives you the opportunity to help lead a genuinely multi-floor, multi-concept venue. You’ll build experience across service, people finance, labour, stock, reservations, compliance, maintenance and systems – giving you a well-rounded understanding of how a hospitality business operates.
A beverage professional: A strong background in beverage is fundamental. You’ll bring detailed drinks knowledge and experience – ideally including professional experience in pubs – and feel comfortable across beer, wine and spirits. You’ll care about everything from cellar standards and product knowledge to supplier relationships, margins and the quality of the final serve.
Comfortable across different styles of hospitality: Part of the magic of The Blue Posts is its democracy. A well-poured pint in the pub is just as important as an exceptional bottle of wine at The Mulwray or the precision of a Michelin-starred experience at Evelyn’s Table. You’ll understand and enjoy all three, rather than see one style of hospitality as more important than another.
Commercially minded: You’ll support the General Manager in managing labour, stock, sales and operational efficiency, understanding how decisions made on one floor can affect the performance of the whole building.
