The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join the Estates & Facilities team. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a busy healthcare environment, carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance to ensure the electrical systems remain safe, compliant, and fully operational.

Working alongside the Estates Manager and wider engineering team, you will play a key role in maintaining critical building services that support the day-to-day running of the hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive electrical repairs.
  • Diagnose and rectify faults on electrical systems and equipment.
  • Maintain lighting, power distribution, emergency lighting, and plant room electrical services.
  • Complete statutory testing and ensure compliance with current regulations.
  • Respond to breakdowns and prioritise critical hospital systems.
  • Update maintenance records using the CAFM system.
  • Work closely with contractors and other engineering disciplines.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with Health & Safety procedures.
A Typical Day

Your day will involve completing scheduled maintenance tasks, responding to reactive breakdowns, fault-finding on electrical systems, carrying out repairs, and supporting essential services across wards, theatres, offices, and plant rooms. You'll also liaise with clinical staff and contractors to minimise disruption while maintaining a safe environment.

Requirements
  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (17th Edition considered).
  • Experience with in building services or facilities maintenance.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage your workload effectively.
  • Previous healthcare or critical environment experience is advantageous.
