The RoleWe are looking for an experienced Building Services Fabric Engineer to join a large and varied commercial estate, working as part of an established engineering and facilities management team.
This is a multi-skilled position with a strong fabric maintenance and painting/decorating bias, making it particularly suited to someone who has come from a skilled fabric, maintenance or building services background.
You will be responsible for carrying out planned, reactive and corrective maintenance across the estate, ensuring buildings and facilities are maintained to a high standard.
Alongside your fabric expertise, you will need a good working understanding of wider mechanical and electrical building services and be comfortable working alongside specialist engineering teams and contractors.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out planned, reactive and corrective fabric maintenance across a large commercial estate.
- Complete painting and decorating works, including preparation, finishing and remedial works.
- Undertake carpentry and joinery repairs, including doors and associated hardware.
- Carry out repairs to flooring, ceiling, walls and other internal building finishes.
- Completele general building, roofing and fabric remedial works where required
- Undertake basic plumbing and general maintenance tasks.
- Respond to reactive maintenance requests and building-related faults.
- Carry out regular building, plant room and estate inspections.
- Identifying defects and recommend appropriate remedial action.
We are looking for someone who is genuinely hands-on and technically capable, with a strong background in fabric maintenance, painting/decorating or general building services.
You should be confident carrying out work yourself rather than solely managing contractors.
Experience with in a commercial property, facilities management, large estate, hotel, healthcare, education, retail or similar environment would be advantageous.
You will also need a basic understanding of mechanical and electrical building services, including HVAC, pumps, heating systems, electrical distribution, lighting, fire systems and BMS.
Qualifications & Experience- City & Guilds Level 3/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Carpentry, Painting & Decorating or another relevant discipline.
- Strong practical experience in commercial fabric maintenance.
- Strong commercial painting and decorating experience.
- Experience with carpentry, doors, flooring, ceilings and general building repairs.
