Roadside Technician

Pay / salary: £55,869 (inclusive of LWA), £40 per hour overtime rate + bonus enabling earnings in excess of £65,000

Job type:
Permanent / Full time role

Shift and schedule for the Roadside Technician role: 40 hours per week, averaged over the year. Scheduling visibility - working pattern issued seven days in advance, with 72 hours' notice for the specific hours. Working hours range is 6.00am - 02.00am, occasional overnight stay. Rest and recovery - 11 hours of rest between shifts and a minimum of two days off every fortnight.

Shift hours may be reduced or withdrawn with a day's notice, so it's important that you can be adaptable. Shift times - shifts may start early, finish late, or fall on any day of the week.

Job Responsibilities
  • Attend roadside breakdowns and assess vehicle faults quickly and accurately.
  • Carry out mechanical and electrical repairs at the roadside, including battery replacements, wheel changes, and minor engine fixes.
  • Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and determine repair options.
  • Provide temporary solutions when full repair isn't possible, ensuring member mobility.
  • Advise members clearly on next steps, including recovery if needed.
  • Work safely and efficiently in varied environments and conditions.
Requirements
  • Must have a minimum of Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair or ideally Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent)
  • Must have a minimum 2-year post-qualification hands on experience with vehicles. Either in a workshop or mobile vehicle type role.
  • A customer-focused approach
  • Must have a full UK driving licence - max 6 points, no bans
