Job Summary
F.D. Thomas, Inc. is seeking an experienced accountant to join our corporate staff team. The Staff Accountant is a mid‑level accounting position and is responsible for maintaining financial records, as part of a finance team. Duties include confirming compliance with IRS rules, reconciliations, budgets, and ledger reports. Under the direction of the Company Controller, the Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the accounting functions in the Medford, Oregon office.
This position will establish rapport, credibility, trust, and respect throughout the organization at all levels and with external parties and be viewed as a team player. The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining financial procedures and confirming financial compliance through preparation of a company's reports and statements, and reports to the Assistant Controller.
Assistant Controller
Job Responsibilities- Assist with financial statement review.
- Assist Controller with month‑end closing process.
- Act as back‑up to Accounting Clerk, Office Manager, and Accounting Specialist to keep the department running smoothly.
- Maintenance of Insurance Policies
- Assist with month/year end closing.
- Reconciliations of various accounting and bid related items.
- Assist with outside auditors.
- Tracking of subcontractor compliance
- Assist with federal, state, and city compliance.
- Auditing of in‑house policies/procedures
- Maintenance of fixed asset schedules
- Finance reporting
- General ledger maintenance/reconciliation
- Budgeting
- Asset Management
- Union reporting and auditing.
- Multi‑State Sales tax compliance
- Multi‑State escheatment
- Tracking of Job costs
- Heavy excel applications.
- 2-5 years of progressively advancing experience in accounting, preferably in the A/E/C industry.
- Strong GAAP knowledge
- Advanced MS‑Excel (required) and Microsoft suite.
- Excellent math and organizational skills
- Ability to effectively collaborate well with others within your team and across the organization at large.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, exceptional attention to detail
- Outstanding work ethic, ability to perform under pressure, meet deadlines, ability to prioritize and deliver multiple tasks on time.
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
- Demonstrated business acumen, problem solving skills, intellectual maturity, and relationship management skills.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required. An associate degree in accounting may be considered with the right experience.
- 2-5 years professional experience in accounting and finance
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
