Madrone Trail Public Waldorf School
Madrone Trail Public Charter School is a K–8 public Waldorf school dedicated to educating the whole child through developmentally appropriate, arts-integrated, and experiential learning. We are seeking a 0.8 FTE Middle School Math Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year to teach core math to grades 6–8 and provide targeted math intervention support.
The ideal candidate understands the developmental needs of early adolescents and is committed to fostering both mathematical thinking and student confidence within a collaborative Waldorf-inspired public school setting.
Position Overview Core Math Instruction (Grades 6–8)- Teach math to three grade levels (6th–8th)
- 12 math blocks per week (4 blocks per grade level)
- Provide math grades to classroom teachers for inclusion in report cards
- Attend parent/teacher conferences as needed
- 6 intervention blocks per week
- Provide targeted small-group instruction for students performing below grade level
- Develop and deliver math instruction aligned with Oregon state standards, district goals, and Waldorf pedagogy
- Learn and effectively utilize school-adopted curriculum materials
- Foster a positive and safe classroom environment that promotes “productive struggle,” mathematical reasoning, and confidence in making and learning from mistakes
- Differentiate instruction to meet a wide range of learning needs and skill levels
- Conduct ongoing, data-informed assessments of student learning and maintain accurate records
- Prepare students for high school-level mathematics
- Track district assessment data (e.g., i-Ready Math) and state test scores
- Collaborate with the MTSS team and participate in bi-weekly MTSS meetings
- Schedule and provide intervention support for students testing two or more grade levels below
- Utilize district-approved intervention curriculum and develop supplemental materials as needed
- Regularly review student progress, document interventions, and adjust instruction accordingly
- Collaborate with teachers and families to support students with diverse learning styles
- Work with Medford School District to follow documentation procedures for Special Education referrals
- Maintain accurate documentation and enter relevant information into the Synergy student information system
- Collaborate with grade-level teachers, the 504 coordinator, and the MTSS team to support student success
- Attend district and school-level trainings and in-service days
- Participate in faculty meetings and contribute to a positive, mission-aligned school culture
- Support school-wide events and community engagement activities
- Strong content knowledge in middle school mathematics
- Experience teaching middle school students
- Excellent classroom management rooted in relationship-building and intrinsic motivation
- A grounded presence, modeling integrity, kindness, and respect
- Commitment to collaboration and being an integral part of the larger school community
- Experience working with students with diverse learning styles
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Current Oregon TSPC License with appropriate middle school math endorsement
- Experience with data analysis and intervention practices preferred
