Position: ASL Interpreter | Central Point, Oregon
Make a meaningful impact supporting students by providing expert sign language interpretation services within a school community. This contract opportunity near Central Point, OR, allows you to use your communication skills daily, assisting students, staff, and families in fostering inclusive learning environments. Collaborate with dedicated educators while helping ensure equal access to educational content and school activities.

Qualifications and Desired Background:
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with various forms of manual communication
  • Certification or licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter as required by state or educational standards
  • Previous experience in an educational setting preferred, but not required
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work effectively with teachers, students, and families
  • Adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students and respond to evolving classroom activities
  • Professionalism, confidentiality, and commitment to upholding ethical interpreting standards
Key Responsibilities:
  • Interpret classroom instruction, announcements, and school events in real-time for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Foster communication between students, teachers, and peers, promoting full participation in educational activities
  • Collaborate with faculty on best practices for accessible communication and student support
  • Maintain accurate records as required, documenting interpreting hours and relevant student interactions
  • Help create a welcoming, inclusive environment by sensitizing school personnel to the needs of deaf and hard-of-hearing students
  • Participate in relevant training and professional development as needed
