School District #6 is located in the Rogue River Valley of Southern Oregon, nestled between the Cascade and Siskiyou Mountain ranges. The area offers plentiful natural, theatrical, musical, educational, and athletic opportunities. Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary: $47,810.90 – $90,243.76 (2025‑2026); 2026‑2027 TBD
  • MA stipend added to annual salary
  • Service Premium pay after 10 years of employment
  • Annual COLA pay increase (as negotiated with Oregon Education Association)
  • Annual step pay increase for eligible employees
  • 6 paid holidays annually
  • 10 paid sick leave days per year
  • 2 paid personal leave days per year
  • 3 paid personal leave days with reduced pay per year
  • 5 paid bereavement leave days per year
  • Up to $1,900 per month district‑paid contribution toward full‑family medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • $600 per month opt‑out stipend for employees with qualifying employer‑sponsored health insurance

Qualifications
  • Current Oregon Teaching License with special education endorsement
  • Willingness to be actively involved in teaming, curriculum integration, and shared decision‑making
  • Must meet Title III requirements for English Learner teachers (fluent in spoken and written English as determined by district assessment)
Essential Job Functions
  • Plan and implement instructional programs that foster learning and growth for students with special needs
  • Provide behavior, cognitive, and work exploration instruction per Individual Education Plan (IEP)
  • Manage and coordinate IEP development and eligibility processes with parents, administrators, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Implement behavior management programs to increase appropriate behavior and reduce atypical behavior
  • Schedule and supervise paraprofessionals, instructional assistants, and volunteers
  • Collaborate with general‑education teachers to provide necessary instructional support and modifications
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and instructional strategies
  • Maintain accurate records of student work, learning outcomes, and non‑instructional information
  • Participate in professional learning communities, school events, and community activities
  • Provide expert guidance on special education law and appropriate instructional strategies
Essential Job Functions Specific to Special Education
  • Provide specially designed instruction for students per IEP
  • Coordinate IEPs with parents, administrators, and consultants
  • Develop and implement behavior management programs
  • Schedule and supervise paraprofessionals (Instructional Assistants)
  • Serve on multidisciplinary teams
  • Communicate with general‑education teachers regarding IEP needs
  • Assist in applying special education law within the classroom
Working Conditions

The teacher works primarily inside the school building but may spend time outdoors in variable weather. Responsibilities include commuting, standing, and speaking for extended periods. The role requires emotional resilience, frequent communication with diverse families, and occasional evening or weekend hours.
