Compensation and Benefits
  • $64,788.44 – $, depending upon approved experience (2023‑2024 rates; 2024‑25 TBD)
  • Annual COLA pay increase (as negotiated with Oregon Education Association)

Responsibilities and Duties

Provide assessment, consultation and behavior intervention strategies to students enrolled in or referred to special education programs; collaborate with general and special education staff and parents to identify strategies, methods, and patterns of instructional support.

  • Administer criterion‑referenced tests for daily tracking or programming.
  • Conduct extensive autism evaluation and training.
  • Conduct functional behavior assessments; develop and implement behavior intervention plans.
  • Conduct evaluations, analyze data and participate in eligibility decision making.
  • Design and implement educational/instructional programs (i.e., language, motor, academic and physical education), both directly and with assistants and classroom teachers, that meet state and federal law.
  • Design and implement behavioral and disciplinary programs.
  • Schedule, coordinate and monitor student programs.
  • Design and implement student self‑help routines including feeding, toileting and mobility.
  • Collect data on student IEP goals; consult with staff and parents on methods, materials and IEPs.
  • Educate staff regarding referrals process and characteristics of disabling situations and the IEP requirements.
  • Maintain records per district schedule, coordinate and monitor programs, and complete work within timelines.
  • Conduct conferences and communicate with parents as necessary.
  • Work effectively with building administrators and work teams or grade levels.
  • Teach classes following district‑approved curriculum; correct assignments and grade students.
  • Maintain a confidential, non‑preference, non‑judgmental manner toward students, staff, and program.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, staff and the general public.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements
  • Current TSPC licensure.
  • Understanding and compliance with Oregon Teacher Standards of Competent and Ethical Performance.
  • Experience in mentoring, cognitive coaching or equivalent desired.
  • Extensive experience working with students with cognitive impairments and a variety of other students.
  • Knowledge of PBIS and RTI.
  • Experience in various managerial and instructional methodologies.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Understanding of current education theory, practice and trends; knowledge and experience in instructional strategies.
  • Ability to effectively deal with students and parents in often difficult circumstances.
  • Effective classroom management techniques.
  • Mental acuity, processing skills, and memory to track and meet deadlines and responsibilities.
  • Ability to maintain composure under stress and manage emotionally challenging interactions with staff, students, and parents.
  • Oregon School Psychologist license.
  • Experience with Special Education leadership.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Willingness to represent the district at IEP meetings.
  • Familiarity with Special Education assessments.
  • Background in RTI and/or MTSS.
  • Experience with early childhood or elementary education preferred.
