Accountant, Financial Reporting, Accounting Manager

Description

A respected government entity in Centralia is seeking a Contract Accountant to support their finance team during a transitional period. This role is ideal for someone with public sector or fund accounting experience who can step in quickly and support critical accounting functions.

Key Responsibilities

+ Support month-end and year-end close, including journal entries and account reconciliations

+ Maintain and reconcile general ledger and fund accounts in accordance with government accounting standards

+ Assist with budget tracking, grant accounting, and expenditure monitoring

+ Prepare financial reports and support internal and external audit requests

+ Ensure compliance with GAAP and governmental accounting standards (GASB)

+ Review and analyze variances across funds, departments, and programs

+ Collaborate with internal departments to ensure accurate financial reporting

Requirements

3+ years of accounting experience, preferably within government, municipality, or nonprofit settings

Knowledge of fund accounting and GASB standards strongly preferred

Experience with ERP/accounting systems

Strong Excel skills (reconciliations, data analysis, reporting)

High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a structured environment

Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
