Centralia College is on a 30-acre campus of modern buildings set among walking paths, lawns, and native plantings just a few blocks from the heart of Centralia, Washington. The college has served students in the Lewis County region since 1925 and is the oldest continuously operating community college in Washington State. The city of Centralia is a historic railroad and river shipping hub with a vibrant downtown and railway station.

As a comprehensive community college, Centralia College offers academic transfer and workforce programs, as well as adult basic education, English as a Second Language (ESL), and personal enrichment classes. The college also offers five Bachelor of Applied Science degrees.

In addition to the main campus in Centralia, Centralia College East in Morton is a smaller site that serves the needs of students in east Lewis County. In total, the college serves more than 4,800 students annually.

Job Description

Centralia College is building a pool of qualified instructors to teach college-level math courses
¿ both online and on campus
¿ on a part-time basis. These courses serve primarily freshmen and sophomores, and teaching needs may vary each quarter.

Online classes are typically taught asynchronously through the Canvas learning management system. In-person teaching opportunities may be available at several locations, including Centralia College
¿ s main campus in Centralia, the Morton satellite campus, the Chehalis Tribal Center in Oakville, or local correctional and juvenile detention facilities.

Applicants must reside in Washington State.

Duties and Responsibilities

Mathematics instructors are responsible for teaching a variety of courses, ranging from pre-calculus to calculus and introduction to statistics, as well as, in conjunction with the college
¿ s Bachelor
¿ s of Applied Science (BAS) in Teacher
¿ s Education program, math for elementary education.

Qualifications

Master
¿ s or higher degree in mathematics, applied mathematics, or statistics.

Preferred Qualifications

* Teaching experience in mathematics, community college level preferred.

* Skill in increasing inclusivity and closing opportunity gaps for historically marginalized students.

* Ability to adapt teaching to various student learning styles.

* Demonstrated experience effectively and respectfully working with students, staff, and colleagues of various cultural, ethnic, racial, educational, and socio-economic backgrounds.

* Experience with Microsoft 365 applications, college learning management systems, and other appropriate instructional technologies.

COMPENSATION

Current lecture/lab rates ($992.48 - $1,443.44 per credit)
