Responsibilities- Under general supervision, lead desktop projects and assign resources, insure desktop coverage, complete performance evaluations and responses, troubleshoot, and repair PC hardware, software and peripherals in a timely manner.
- Responsible for PC Bulk Buy, which includes receiving PC’s, creating enterprise and agency images, annual county-wide inventory and surplus PC equipment.
- Respond to Emergency Operations Center (EOC) activations and lead and insure technical coverage during activation.
- Respond and coordinate OIT disaster recovery events, both planned and unplanned.
- Create documentation for each event and provide updates to senior management.
- Provide technical support to the County Executive and Administrative offices.
- Provide technical support to agency computer users regarding system hardware, software applications, peripherals, including rotational 24x7 on‑call support.
- Provide documentation of work performed through the use of Service Center.
- Receive PCs, unpack, inventory, develop base images and add‑ons, deploy images, deploy PCs to agencies, manage replacement process to minimize impact to agencies. Perform annual countywide inventory.
- Approve leave requests and complete performance evaluations.
- Assign staff to desktop and OIT projects.
- Manage Desktop Unit related projects, working with various OIT units, agencies and co‑workers. Provide back‑up support for agency LAN Administrators and OIT desktop unit.
- Manage tasks and prioritize work to optimize customer satisfaction.
Required Qualifications
- Possession of a high school diploma or an appropriate equivalent.
- At least six (6) years' experience troubleshooting and repairing PC hardware and software and peripherals in a networked environment, including at least three (3) years' experience leading a technical team.
- (Additional education in PC repair and support or a related field may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis for the required troubleshooting and repairing PC hardware and software and peripherals in a networked environment experience.)
- Possession of a valid driver's license equivalent to a non-commercial, class C Maryland driver's license.
Qualified applicants will be assigned a rating based on an evaluation of their training and experience, as submitted on their application and supplemental questions. Conditions of EmploymentThis position works an average scheduled workweek of 30-34 hours, Monday through Friday. May occasionally require additional hours, which may include weekends, evenings and holidays.
Physical and Environmental ConditionsThe work of this position involves the moving and setup of computers and office equipment. This position also requires travel to various locations within the county and may require use of personal vehicle.
Medical Examination and Employment Background InvestigationApplicants selected for an appointment to a position in Baltimore County must successfully complete a physical examination and drug screen and an employment background investigation, including, but not limited to a criminal background, education, and fingerprint check.
