Worker type:
Regular full‑time day shift (0640‑1910). The schedule is self‑scheduling based on needs with every 3rd weekend, holiday requirement, no on‑call requirement.
Provides direct patient care to behavioral health patients in accordance with facility policies and procedures.
Job Responsibilities- Completes admitting and shift assessments on assigned patients, including behaviors, accurately and within the time‑frame set in policy and procedures.
- Utilizes critical thinking skills and judgment to analyze patient assessment data and notify physician of changes in condition.
- Participates in the development, review and evaluation of multidisciplinary treatment plans per policies and procedures.
- Documents all nursing care given and adheres to nursing standards and ministry policies and procedures.
- Consistently and accurately implements and records physician orders.
- Assesses and monitors patients and the environment for safety within the unit.
- Serves as a clinical resource and supervises care delivered by LPNs and techs.
- Educates patients and families based on assessed needs and documents education provided in the Electronic Health Record.
- Applies evidence‑based practice and scientific knowledge to nursing practice, ensuring that care is delivered based on patient age‑specific and clinical needs as described in the department’s scope of service.
- Demonstrates professional nursing standards as defined in the professional practice model and uses the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses to guide responses to evolving health and nursing needs.
- Works in a constant state of alertness and safety.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or educational equivalency for licensing.
ExperienceNo experience required.
Physical Requirements- Constant use of speech for oral communication.
- Constant standing and walking.
- Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0–25 lbs.
- Frequent sitting, reaching, and keyboard use/data entry.
- Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify color distinctions.
- Frequent use of smell to detect odors.
- Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds, and hear alarms or machinery.
- Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25–50 lbs.
- Occasional lifting/moving of patients.
- Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
- Occasional driving.
- Rare crawling and running.
- Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association (AHA).
- Registered Professional Nurse (RN) – Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).
