About the Role

The register is the last stop in every customer's visit, and it sets the tone for whether they come back. At Lincoln Creek Lumber, our cashiers aren’t just running a checkout line. You're often the first friendly face someone sees and the last one they talk to before heading out to tackle their project.

If you light up when you get to chat with people, remember faces and names without even trying, and genuinely enjoy making someone's day a little better, this is your spot. You know the monthly specials, you catch the chance to mention a product someone didn't know they needed, and you send every customer out the door feeling like they mattered, not like they were just processed.

What

You’ll Do
  • Greet every customer with energy the moment they walk through the door
  • Verify your starting cash balance and keep your assigned till to yourself for the shift
  • Ring up purchases accurately, handling cash and card payments with confidence
  • Ask if customers are Ace Rewards members and offer to sign up those who aren't
  • Apply coupons at the time of purchase and process refunds or store credit when needed
  • Radio a Sales Associate when a customer needs help finding an item
  • Know the monthly ads and enthusiastically point customers toward specials
  • Practice suggestive selling by mentioning products that would genuinely help with a customer's project
  • Handle complaints with patience and empathy, loop in a manager when needed, and document anything that requires follow-up
  • Ask customers with large bags to store them behind the counter or in their vehicle
  • Clean the cash wrap and equipment at the start and end of your shift
  • Sweep behind the counter and keep your assigned aisles and the impulse area swept, dusted, faced, and stocked
  • Check in food and drink deliveries from vendors
  • Put away freight and organize back stock when deliveries arrive
  • Balance your cash drawer at the end of your shift and prepare the deposit
  • Stay alert and notify management of any security concerns
  • Attend monthly store meetings
Who You Are

You're a people person through and through. Striking up conversation with a total stranger comes naturally to you, and you actually enjoy it. You're the one who remembers regulars by name and makes new customers feel like regulars too. You bring energy to the little moments, a genuine smile, an upbeat “how's your day going,” a real interest in what someone's working on.

You take pride in a drawer that balances and a counter that's spotless, but what really drives you is the chance to make someone's trip to the store a good one. You're comfortable with numbers and technology, quick on your feet, and never too shy to ask a question when you don't know the answer.
