Position: WORKSOURCE SPECIALIST 2/Occasional Dual Language-Spanish

Location:

Work Source office in Centralia, 500 Centralia College Blvd #200, Centralia, WA 98531.

The ideal candidate is a customer‑focused workforce development professional who thrives in a fast‑paced, service‑oriented environment and is committed to supporting all Work Source lines of business. They excel at providing direct assistance to job seekers and employers, conducting interviews to identify needs, explaining programs and services, and guiding customers through employment and training expectations. They are skilled at delivering high‑quality customer service across multiple platforms—phone, email, virtual, and in‑person—and are comfortable supporting resource room activities, navigating online tools, and supplying labor market information.

This candidate is detail‑oriented and dependable, maintaining accurate records, case notes, and data across multiple systems while coordinating orientations, workshops, and partner services. They build strong relationships with businesses, partners, and service providers, contributing to integrated service delivery and supporting ESD’s mission to connect job seekers and employers.

Responsibilities
  • Perform simple to routine supporting work following standard procedures and/or assists others in performing work of greater complexity.
  • Conduct individual interviews to articulate program services and activities; identify components applicable to customer need, referrals and develop recommendations for continuous engagement.
  • Explain agency programs, services, policies, and procedures; answer basic program and service questions; refer customers to services.
  • Answer phone calls and direct to program teams; provide timely response and services through all forms of customer service (phone, email, virtual platform, or face‑to‑face).
  • Provide access to employment assessment tools; give results to customers; assist customers in the virtual resource room.
  • Conduct basic triage to determine initial service options; complete new and/or update customer registrations in ETO or impersonate via
  • Assist in the direction of customer flow virtually and in‑person; provide virtual and in‑person resource room assistance whether working remotely or in‑person.
  • Assist customers in accessing and utilizing Work Source Washington website and other online resources.
  • Collect, verify, and enter information into multiple data systems to report and track services provided.
  • Schedule customers and assist with orientations and/or job search workshops; record attendance at orientations and workshops; distribute labor market information and materials.
  • Coordinate workshops; resolve logistics issues.
  • Coordinate resources with partners; communicate and promote agency and partner programs and services to encourage maximum utilization of available incentives.
  • Assist in job fair activities and recruitment events.
Required Qualifications
  • Option 1:
    One (1) year as a Work Source Specialist 1 or equivalent class within the Employment Security Department, or in an equivalent class with another state’s Employment Security agency.
  • Option 2: A Bachelor’s degree in social science, business administration or related field and one (1) year of professional experience in workforce development, social or human resource services, public relations, or professional public contact work.
  • Option 3: A combination of education and/or relevant experience totaling at least five (5) years.
  • Must occasionally be able to read and communicate effectively in Spanish—in person, over the phone, and in writing.

Education to Experience Equivalences:
Associate degree = 2 years;
Bachelor’s degree = 4 years;
Master’s or higher = 5 years.

Must be able to pass Unemployment Insurance (UI) & Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML) claim and fraud check.
