Job OverviewAs a Class A CDL Driver for UNFI, you will support the Centralia Distribution Center by delivering palletized products to corporate and independent retail stores. The essential functions and basic duties of the CDL Driver are to perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspection of their vehicle, utilize safe and effective loading and handling procedures, deliver and unload products, review paperwork for completeness and accuracy, check orders for the correct number of boxes, correct addresses and support documentation, complete time cards, enter trip data into the on‑board computer, and, if necessary, complete paper logs.
Responsibilities- Delivering and unloading products using equipment such as tractor‑trailers, ramps, lift gates, pallet jacks, load bars, and other devices.
- Operating the vehicle safely within UNFI guidelines to minimize accidents, traffic violations, and public complaints.
- Reporting any accident immediately to the Transportation Manager.
- Keeping vehicles well maintained, safe, and secure, and reporting any defects promptly with the DCVR form.
- Picking up supplies and back hauls from vendors while completing related paperwork.
- Addressing and resolving customer problems as appropriate.
- Ensuring customer orders arrive in good condition and match the initial order.
- Current Commercial Driver’s License, Class
A. - Ability to pass a road test.
- Prefer minimum of one year verified experience operating a tractor‑trailer.
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Basic knowledge of Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). and mandates.
- Understanding of UNFI’s safety standards.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Solid understanding of shipping and receiving functions.
- Good time‑management skills.
- Good judgement for decision‑making when direct supervision may not be immediately available.
