Symbotic is currently seeking a talented Automation System Operator who will be responsible for monitoring the operation of our automated material handling system, coordinating on-site troubleshooting efforts, and escalating complex issues to internal subject matter experts.
What You’ll Do- Ensure that safety commitments in compliance with OSHA, Symbotic, and our customers’ processes and procedures are met daily.
- Monitor system performance and the availability of both personnel and automated robotic vehicles.
- Work with the customer to schedule and produce orders and receive inventory.
- Troubleshoot system stoppages and determine the best course of action to maintain system uptime.
- Communicate and troubleshoot software issues with off-site Symbotic software engineers and on-site management team.
- Operate the system via a custom GUI and ensure safe and proper operation.
- Plan daily activities and coordinate system maintenance with maintenance personnel and the Automation Manager based on daily needs of warehouse operations.
- Maintain accurate logs of major events and become the on-site software expert with an excellent understanding of system interrelations and consequences.
- Assess causes of automated robotic vehicle failures, examine log files, take detailed notes, and alert service personnel.
- Assist and train other automation team operators in troubleshooting and repairs as required, consistent with experience and training.
- Communicate with tier support to drive system production.
- Other duties as assigned by leadership.
- Minimum of 3 years in a computer or automation environment desired.
- Ability to direct and guide employees in daily standard work.
- Effective detail-oriented communicator.
- A desire to learn new equipment and assist team members as needed.
- Receptive to critical feedback and recognition.
- Ability to multi-task and perform multiple job functions at once.
- High sense of urgency.
- Must be literate in English (written and verbal).
- There may be steep stairs to climb into the structure.
- You will regularly be near railings that are high off the ground.
- Subject to environmental conditions, with protection from weather; must be capable of working in temperatures ranging from 105° to 32° Fahrenheit.
- If the site location is in construction, proper PPE is required (hard hat, safety vest, steel-toed boots, eyeglasses, ear protection, fall protection).
- Frequent ability to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs and move items up to 80 lbs.
- Stand or walk for up to 10-12 hours and frequently reach with hands and arms.
- Employee may work at heights up to 45 feet and in restrictive areas of 24 inches; duties may include standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Must comply with all safety requirements and protocols, including lockout/tagout and fall protection safety protocols.
