Position Overview

The Director, External Communications, is a senior storytelling and brand reputation leader responsible for how we show up. Reporting to the Global Head of Communications, this individual owns the company's public narrative, from media relations and thought leadership to executive visibility and crisis communications. This is a role for a confident, creative communicator who understands that every press release, byline, and public statement is an opportunity to deepen trust, expand reach, and reinforce what makes Mobility Global distinct in the market.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive external communications strategy that elevates brand awareness, strengthens reputation, and supports business growth objectives.
  • Own all media relations activity, building and nurturing relationships with key journalists, editors, and industry influencers to secure consistent, high-quality coverage.
  • Serve as a primary communications advisor to the C‑suite, providing counsel on messaging, public positioning, and reputational risk.
  • Lead the development of executive thought leadership content including bylined articles, speaking submissions, op‑eds, Linked In strategy, and keynote messaging.
  • Manage and continuously evolve the company's corporate narrative, ensuring messaging is consistent, differentiated, and resonant across all external channels.
  • Oversee crisis communications planning and response, acting swiftly and strategically to protect and restore brand reputation when needed.
  • Collaborate with marketing, investor relations, legal, and HR to ensure external communications are aligned, timely, and on‑brand.
  • Manage PR agency relationships, external vendors, and communications budgets with a focus on measurable outcomes.
  • Track media coverage, share of voice, and communications KPIs, using data to continuously refine strategy and demonstrate impact.
  • Build and develop a high‑performing communications team with a culture of excellence, creativity, and accountability.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field required; advanced degree a plus.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in external communications, public relations, or corporate communications, agency and in‑house experience both valued.
  • Proven track record of securing top‑tier media placements and building lasting journalist relationships.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills across a range of formats, from tight news releases to long‑form thought leadership.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to counsel and partner with senior leaders on sensitive communications matters.
  • Experience managing crisis communications with composure, speed, and strategic clarity.
  • Deep understanding of how external communications intersects with brand strategy, marketing, and business development.
  • Proficiency with media monitoring tools, PR analytics platforms, and digital communications channels.
  • Experience in the industry preferred.
What Success Looks Like
  • Company executives are recognized as credible, visible thought leaders in the industry.
  • The brand's external narrative is cohesive, compelling, and clearly differentiated from competitors.
  • When a crisis arises, the organization responds with speed, clarity, and confidence, emerging with reputation intact.
  • Communications is seen as a strategic growth driver, not a reactive support function.
