Overview

Unarmed Security Officer serving Fairfax, Centreville, Herndon, Aldie, and Manassas (Northern Virginia).

Unarmed Security Officer positions with day, night, and weekend shifts; full-time or part-time options available. Shifts schedules may vary by site.

Current DCJS 01E registration is required before the first shift assignment, but not required for consideration. Prior military, law enforcement, and private security experience are highly desired. Reliable transportation within the Northern Virginia area is required.

• Conduct roving vehicle and foot patrols through property streets, parking lots, common areas, and other areas of the property to monitor for damage, criminal activity, and other suspicious activity.
• Conduct foot patrols of walking areas in/around courtyards, offices, store fronts, and/or other buildings to ensure the property is secure and to report illegal or inappropriate activity, and to take preventive actions to protect the property and residents.
• Monitor the property for suspicious activity, including unauthorized vehicles, vehicles that have been broken into, trespassers or loitering, trash and lighting issues, or other activities outside normal property operations.
• Check all doors in assigned buildings to ensure that employees have locked up and that necessary alarms are set.
• Conduct security assessments and notify customers via reports of lighting issues, non-operational lights, improperly disposed trash, and other potential breach areas such as missing fences or overgrown landscaping that could provide concealment.
• Write clear and accurate reports in accordance with Operations Manual guidelines to document all observations during patrols.
• Perform additional duties as required by site Post Orders.
• Use Signal’s Edge software for patrols and route planning; learn the software, use it appropriately, and submit real-time reports to maintain efficiency.
• Operate as a visual deterrent and report observations without using force.

• Complete all appropriate online and physical training modules.
• Successfully pass a drug test and background check.
• Possess no criminal convictions and hold a valid driver’s license, as specified under Signal Policies and Procedures.
• Demonstrate ability to communicate effectively both orally for positive public interaction and in writing for accurate reports.
• Demonstrate good typing skills; all reporting is done online.
• Ability to learn new software quickly, efficiently, and in a timely manner.
• Able to provide proof of ability to work in the United States.
• Ability to interact with all levels of Signal personnel, clients and their employees, and the public in a direct, timely, and professional manner.
• Ability to get along with other employees, follow directions, work under stress, add value, and continuously improve.
• Ability to conform to established procedures, help identify problems, and provide solutions.
