This is a full-time, on-site Electrical Technician role located in Centreville, VA. The Electrical Technician will perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems and equipment used in advanced water and wastewater treatment operations. Daily responsibilities include inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing motors, control panels, switch gear, instrumentation, and related electrical components to ensure safe and reliable plant performance. The role involves reading and interpreting electrical schematics, following safety procedures, documenting work in maintenance systems, and coordinating with operations and engineering staff to minimize equipment downtime.
The Electrical Technician will also assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and testing to support continuous improvement of facility reliability and efficiency.
- Strong foundation in electricity and electrical engineering principles, with the ability to read schematics and follow electrical codes and standards.
- Hands‑on experience in electrical maintenance, including inspection, repair, and preventive maintenance of plant electrical systems.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical issues and diagnosing faults in motors, controls, and other electrical equipment.
- Experience working with a range of electrical equipment such as switch gear, motor control centers, variable frequency drives, and control panels.
- Knowledge of and commitment to electrical safety practices, lockout/tagout procedures, and relevant OSHA and NFPA standards.
- Ability to use hand and power tools, test instruments, and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in electrical systems or a related field is preferred.
- Prior experience in utilities, water/wastewater, industrial, or manufacturing environments is beneficial.
- Effective communication skills, ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and willingness to participate in on‑call or shift work as needed.
