Role PurposeThe role will be responsible for the building and implementation of product models for the purposes of modelling product values and fund build-ups, as well as developing tools to facilitate excellent automated risk management. The role offers exposure to an extensive range of historical and current life insurance products while developing actuarial judgement in balancing the needs for the various stakeholders.
RequirementsMatric
Degree in Actuarial Sciences, Statistical Analysis, Mathematics or related field
Honours degree in Actuarial Science
Completed at least 4 Foundation and Intermediate Technical exams - ASSA A100 and A200 series exams

Duties & ResponsibilitiesINTERNAL PROCESS
Build and maintain models of the business in excel vba Document business requirements
Draft and review the required processes that monitor the accuracy of policy values
Specify, build and maintain models of the business
Investigate, quantify and explain any deviations and advise on corrective measures.
Ensure that all projects to be implemented adhere to audit and risk management requirements.
Investigate product bases, and apply sound actuarial judgement for rationalisations where required

Make recommendations to improve client service and fair treatment of clients within area of responsibility.
Participate and contribute to a culture which builds rewarding relationships, facilitates feedback and provides exceptional client service.
Conduct relevant research to inform assumptions, projections and advise provided to the business, and to develop own expert opinion.

FINANCE
Identify solutions to enhance cost effectiveness and increase operational efficiency.
Provide input into the risk identification processes and communicate recommendations in the appropriate forum.
Ability to examine and interpret data and provide insights.
Good analytical and communication skills
Being able to effectively work and communicate with a range of people
Experience in Excel and SQL will be advantageous
