Role Overview
We are looking for a Junior People Business Partner that will deliver coordinated operational People support across the business, ensuring consistent implementation of People practices, compliance standards, and performance processes.
The Junior People Business Partner executes and coordinates employee lifecycle activities, supports employee relations processes, and partners with allocated managers to implement People initiatives, building capability in business partnering while effective People operations delivery.
This role will report directly to the People Business Lead.
Key Responsibilities
People Business Partnering Support
- Provide day-to-day operational People support to approximately five (5) junior managers and the broader team.
- Support managers on attendance, conduct, performance processes, and policy application.
- Implement People initiatives and processes aligned to direction from the People Lead.
- Coordinate People-related activities across the team to ensure consistency and follow-through.
Employee Relations & Compliance
- Coordinate and prepare documentation for disciplinary, grievance, and counselling processes.
- Support hearing preparation and administrative requirements.
- Assist in ensuring consistent application of policies and procedures.
- Monitor compliance documentation and maintain accurate records.
Talent & Onboarding Coordination
- Manage the end-to-end recruitment process for allocated roles, under guidance of the People Business Lead.
- Draft role profiles and advertisements aligned to business requirements.
- Screen and shortlist candidates, coordinate interviews, and prepare offers.
- Ensure Employment Equity considerations are applied in line with company targets.
- Facilitate onboarding documentation and induction coordination.
Performance & Development Execution
- Administer and track the KPI performance management cycle, ensuring timelines and documentation compliance.
- Coordinate KPI review documentation and performance improvement plans.
- Monitor completion rates and escalate gaps to the People Business Lead.
- Identify development needs emerging from KPI discussions and coordinate learning interventions.
People Operations & Reporting
- Manage employee lifecycle administration (contracts, transfers, exits).
- Maintain People system data integrity and documentation accuracy.
- Track leave trends, headcount updates, and operational People metrics.
- Prepare People reports for review by the People Lead.
Culture & Engagement Support
- Promote Lightstone’s values and behavioural standards.
- Support engagement initiatives and feedback processes.
- Assist with Employment Equity tracking at team level.
Requirements
Qualifications/ Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or industrial psychology/ equivalent
- 2 – 4 years’ experience in a HR / People Generalist or Officer role
- Working knowledge of South African labour legislation (BCEA, LRA, POPIA)
- Exposure to Employment Equity and Skills Development processes
- Strong administrative, organisational, and coordination capability
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Working knowledge of Canva for presentation, communication, and engagement material development
Advantageous:
- Honours Degree in Human Resources or Industrial Psychology
- Exposure to HRIS systems (e.g., SAP, Sage, Workable)
- Experience in operational or fast-paced environments
