As an Infrastructure Technician at Level-7 Internet, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining and supporting the infrastructure that powers our network. From customer installations and fibre deployments to tower work and high-site maintenance, you'll play a key role in delivering reliable connectivity and ensuring our network operates at peak performance. This role requires strong technical aptitude, a commitment to safety, attention to detail and the ability to work confidently in both field and high-risk environments while following company procedures and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Equipment Installation
    - Install customer equipment including wireless antennas, routers, network cabling, power cabling, masts and mounting brackets.

    - Ensure all installations comply with company standards, safety requirements and customer expectations.

    - Test and verify equipment functionality before handover.
  • Equipment Configuration
    - Configure and commission routers, switches and wireless equipment.

    - Verify correct integration with existing network infrastructure.

    - Perform testing and optimisation to ensure reliable service delivery.
  • High-Site Installations & Tower Work
    - Install, upgrade and maintain wireless equipment at towers, rooftops and other elevated structures.

    - Perform tower work safely using approved climbing equipment and procedures.

    - Comply with Occupational Health and Safety regulations and Working at Heights requirements.

    - Assist with emergency repairs and maintenance at remote infrastructure sites.
  • Fibre Installations & Maintenance
    - Install, maintain and test fibre optic infrastructure.

    - Perform fibre blowing, splicing and termination.

    - Identify, diagnose and repair fibre faults.

    - Conduct fibre testing using appropriate test equipment to ensure network integrity.
  • Infrastructure Maintenance & Network Support
    - Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on company infrastructure and high sites.

    - Monitor infrastructure health using tools such as Zabbix and respond to alerts where required.

    - Troubleshoot infrastructure faults and assist in restoring services.

    - Support internal technical teams with infrastructure-related issues.
  • Projects & Operational Support
    - Assist with infrastructure upgrades, network expansions and special projects.

    - Support solar installations, building maintenance and other operational initiatives as required.

    - Collaborate with other departments to ensure efficient project delivery and operational continuity.
  • Documentation & Compliance
    - Complete installation reports, maintenance records and job documentation accurately.

    - Maintain company equipment, tools and vehicles in good working order.

    - Ensure compliance with company policies, standard operating procedures and safety regulations at all times.

    - Promote a culture of teamwork, professionalism and continuous improvement.
Requirements
  • Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent
  • 2–5 years’ experience in ISP, telecommunications, or network infrastructure environments
  • Strong hands-on experience with wireless, fibre optic, and network equipment installations
  • Competent in configuring routers, switches, and wireless networking equipment
  • Experience working on high-sites, towers, and remote infrastructure locations
  • Solid understanding and proven experience with fibre splicing, testing, and fault troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g. Zabbix) and basic IP networking principles
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex field issues
  • Knowledge of OHSA regulations and commitment to strict safety compliance
  • Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to sites as required
  • Strong communication, accountability, and teamwork skills
