Telecommunications Technician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Telecommunications Technician to join their expanding operations in Centurion, Gauteng . This role is vital for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of telecommunications infrastructure, including fiber optics, copper cabling, and network equipment. You will ensure seamless connectivity for our clients, responding to service calls and proactively managing network health. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically proficient, and possesses excellent communication skills to interact effectively with clients and team members.

This hybrid position allows for both field work and some remote support, offering a balanced approach to a demanding but rewarding career in the telecommunications sector in the Centurion region.

• Install, configure, and maintain telecommunications equipment, including routers, switches, and modems.
• Perform fiber optic splicing, testing, and termination in accordance with industry standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues, identifying and repairing faults in infrastructure.
• Conduct site surveys and assess requirements for new installations or upgrades.
• Respond promptly to emergency service calls to minimize downtime and ensure service continuity.
• Maintain accurate records of network configurations, inventory, and service activities.

• Proven experience as a Telecommunications Technician or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of fiber optic technologies, copper cabling, and networking principles.
• Proficiency in using specialized tools for fiber splicing, testing, and cable installation.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and installation guides.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the capacity to work under pressure.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the Centurion and surrounding areas.
