Commercial Vehicle Mechanic - Gauteng Region Fleet Services

Our client, a major player in the national logistics sector, is seeking a skilled and experienced Commercial Vehicle Mechanic to join their dedicated fleet services team, based near Centurion, Gauteng . This role is essential for maintaining the operational readiness and safety of a large fleet of heavy-duty trucks and commercial vehicles. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems, coupled with a strong commitment to quality workmanship and adherence to safety standards.

• Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a variety of commercial vehicles, including trucks and trailers.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
• Conduct pre-trip inspections and identify potential problems before they lead to breakdowns.
• Perform engine overhauls, brake repairs, suspension work, and other major repairs.
• Maintain accurate service and repair records for all vehicles.
• Ensure all work performed complies with manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
• Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations in the workshop environment.
• Manage parts inventory and order necessary components for repairs.
• Assist in implementing preventative maintenance programs to maximize fleet uptime.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in commercial vehicle technology and repair techniques.

• Trade qualification as a Diesel Mechanic or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience as a commercial vehicle mechanic.
• Proven expertise in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, transmissions, and braking systems.
• Strong understanding of vehicle electrical systems and diagnostics.
• Experience with hydraulic systems common in commercial vehicles.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• Valid driver’s license (Code 10 or higher) is required;
  Code 14 is an advantage.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to work extended hours when necessary to meet fleet operational demands.
• Proximity to or willingness to commute to the Centurion, Gauteng area.
