POSITION

OVERVIEW

The Purchasing Manager role is an onsite position that will supervise a team of merchandising associates including recruiting, selection, training, and performance management. Oversee, supervise, and execute domestic purchasing and overall management of inventory. Support demand planning and stock replenishment to avoid shortages or overstock. Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with key suppliers and vendors. Work closely with multiple departments to maintain inventory, control costs, and support business growth.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Importing & Freight Operations

  • Act as the primary point of contact with international freight forwarders and shipping companies.
  • Coordinate container bookings, shipping schedules, and ensure accurate documentation (e.g., commercial invoices, packing lists, B/Ls).
  • Monitor incoming shipments and work with customs brokers to ensure timely clearance and delivery.
  • Resolve issues related to port delays, demurrage, documentation errors, or freight discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with warehouse and logistics teams to manage inbound/outbound shipments and warehouse transfers.

Vendor & Supplier Communication

  • Maintain consistent communication with overseas factories and third-party suppliers.
  • Follow up on open purchase orders, monitor production quality, and confirm ETAs.
  • Address and resolve production or shipment‑related issues with vendors.

Quality Control & Compliance

  • Monitor supplier performance and resolve any issues related to quality, delivery, or pricing in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all products meet required quality standards and specifications.
  • Manage documentation related to compliance, testing, certifications, and technical data sheets.

Administrative & Reporting Support

  • Work alongside internal staff (Sales, Sourcing, Customer Service, Operations, Accounting) to optimize purchasing efforts, new product launches, and changes in product life cycles to maximize customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and present regular reports on inventory performance, inventory levels, and key performance metrics.
  • Foster a high‑performance team environment by mentoring and developing team members.
  • Drive continuous improvement within the team; ensuring best practices are followed.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement long‑term strategies that support business growth and objectives.
  • Ensure purchasing activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and relevant legal requirements.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bilingual English & Mandarin. Must speak, read, and write Mandarin.
  • 5+ years of purchasing experience, in import/export operations, or supply chain management.
  • Knowledge of global sourcing, logistics, and trade compliance.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong knowledge of international shipping processes, Incoterms, and working with freight forwarders/customs brokers.
  • SALARY RANGE (depending on experience): $78,000 - $88,000 annually BENEFITS:
