Production Manager – Glass Fabrication Operations

We are seeking a hands-on Production Manager to lead daily manufacturing operations within a fast-paced glass fabrication environment. This role requires a strong presence on the production floor, working closely with supervisors and production teams to drive accountability, achieve production goals, maintain quality standards, and ensure customer commitments are met.

The ideal candidate is a highly engaged leader who thrives in a manufacturing environment, develops strong teams, and continuously drives operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead day-to-day production activities across cutting, tempering, laminating, insulating glass, and finishing operations.
  • Maintain a consistent presence on the production floor, actively supporting production teams and ensuring operational priorities are being executed.
  • Drive accountability to fabrication schedules, throughput goals, production targets, and customer delivery commitments.
  • Monitor and manage key performance indicators including:
  • On-Time Delivery (OTD)
  • Productivity and output per shift
  • Quality performance
  • Scrap and rework rates
  • Downtime and equipment utilization
  • Identify and eliminate production bottlenecks to improve efficiency and workflow.
On-Time Delivery & Schedule Accountability
  • Ensure production activities remain aligned with fabrication schedules and shipping commitments.
  • Collaborate closely with Scheduling, Logistics, and Customer Service teams to proactively address capacity constraints and production risks.
  • Drive operational execution to consistently achieve customer delivery expectations and On-Time Delivery goals.
Quality & Customer Satisfaction
  • Ensure all products meet customer specifications and quality standards.
  • Lead efforts to reduce defects, remakes, customer complaints, and scrap through effective root cause analysis and corrective action planning.
  • Partner with Quality and Engineering teams to implement continuous improvements and process controls.
  • Maintain adherence to fabrication tolerances, inspection requirements, and quality procedures.
Safety & Compliance
  • Champion a safety-first culture throughout the facility.
  • Ensure compliance with all company safety policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead safety meetings, investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Maintain organized and efficient work areas through strong housekeeping and 5S practices.
  • Lead, coach, and develop supervisors and production employees across multiple shifts.
  • Establish clear expectations while driving accountability for performance, attendance, safety, and quality standards.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, training, and employee development initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, teamwork, communication, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives including Kaizen events, waste reduction, and process improvements.
  • Utilize production data and performance metrics to identify opportunities for increased efficiency and productivity.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action activities to improve operational performance.
  • Support ERP, MES, and other operational system improvements.

  • Productivity (SQF per labor hour)
  • Quality performance metrics

    Scrap, rework, and remake reduction
  • Equipment utilization and uptime

  • Lead time reduction and operational efficiency improvements
Qualifications
  • 5–10+ years of manufacturing leadership experience required.
  • Glass fabrication experience strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of cutting, tempering, laminating, insulating glass, and finishing processes.
  • Proven success leading high-volume manufacturing operations and production teams.
  • Experience managing production schedules, labor planning, and operational performance metrics.
  • Experience with ERP systems and production scheduling tools.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and Six Sigma experience is a plus.
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
