The Dispatcher role at Crane Worldwide Logistics is a full-time, on-site position based in Cerritos, CA. The Dispatcher coordinates and schedules daily transportation activities, including assigning drivers and vehicles, planning routes, and monitoring shipment status to ensure timely pickups and deliveries. This role manages incoming calls and service requests, updates shipment and tracking information in company systems, and communicates proactively with drivers, warehouse staff, and customers regarding load details, delays, and changes.
The Dispatcher reviews documentation for accuracy, supports compliance with company policies and transportation regulations, and responds to exceptions or service issues in real time. The role also involves maintaining detailed records, preparing basic activity reports, and collaborating with operations and customer service teams to support efficient logistics performance.
- Logistics and operations skills, including experience with dispatching, route planning, load scheduling, and coordinating transportation activities.
- Administrative and organizational skills, such as data entry, documentation review, recordkeeping, and managing multiple tasks with attention to detail.
- Communication and customer service skills, including clear verbal and written communication, professional phone etiquette, and the ability to interact effectively with drivers, clients, and internal teams.
- Technical skills, including proficiency with dispatch or transportation management systems, basic computer skills (e.g., MS Office), and comfort working with real-time tracking tools.
- Problem-solving abilities, including handling service issues under time pressure, prioritizing tasks, and making sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of transportation and logistics practices; familiarity with local and regional routes and basic regulatory requirements is beneficial.
- Ability to work on-site in Cerritos, CA, including flexibility for shift work or overtime as business needs require.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certifications in logistics, supply chain, or related fields are a plus.
- Previous experience in dispatch, trucking, or logistics operations preferred but not strictly required for highly motivated candidates with transferable skills.
