Material Handler
Overview
The Quality Control & Inventory Associate is responsible for ensuring all incoming and outgoing metal products meet company standards for accuracy, quality, and compliance. This role also manages inventory accuracy through detailed tracking, cycle counts, and documentation. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and experienced in warehouse or metal supply environments.
Responsibilities- Quality Control:
Inspect incoming metal materials (sheet, bar, plate, tube, etc.) for defects, damage, and specification compliance. - Quality Control:
Verify material dimensions, alloy types, thickness, and tolerances using calipers, micrometers, tape measures, gauges, and other precision tools. - Quality Control:
Review mill test reports (MTRs) and ensure all documentation matches physical materials. - Quality Control:
Perform quality checks on outgoing orders to confirm correct material type, quantity, and condition. - Quality Control:
Identify and report nonconforming materials; assist in corrective actions and root-cause analysis. - Quality Control:
Maintain organized records of inspections, quality reports, and documentation. - Inventory Management:
Receive, label, and properly store materials according to company guidelines. - Inventory Management:
Perform cycle counts, full inventory audits, and reconcile discrepancies. - Inventory Management:
Ensure accurate inventory data entry into ERP or warehouse management systems. - Inventory Management:
Monitor stock levels and communicate shortages or overages to management. - Inventory Management:
Assist with reorganizing and optimizing warehouse storage systems. - Warehouse & Operations Support:
Safely operate forklifts, overhead cranes, saws, and other warehouse equipment (training provided if needed). - Warehouse & Operations Support:
Assist with cutting, packaging, and preparing material for shipment when required. - Warehouse & Operations Support:
Support the team with general warehouse tasks to maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1-3 years of experience in quality control, inventory, or warehouse operations (metal industry experience preferred).
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as MTRs, blueprints, and material specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Comfortable using measuring tools and equipment.
- Basic computer skills and experience with ERP or inventory software.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods.
- Experience using calipers and gauges.

- Warehouse environment with regular exposure to metal materials, machinery, and moderate noise levels.
