This job acts as a leader in the provision of patient care using the nursing process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses, and Scope & Standards of Practice. The role effectively delegates, directs, and assists licensed and ancillary team members, assumes accountability for quality patient outcomes, exhibits sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity, and maintains involvement in activities aimed toward the achievement of the unit and department’s strategic goals and objectives.

• Required: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in nursing.

• More than 2 years previous level 1 and/or level 2 trauma nurse experience.

• Required: Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice;
  Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification;
  Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification within 30 days of hire;
  Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 90 days of hire;
  Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 90 days of hire.
• Preferred: Certification in clinical specialty area.

• Proficiency in using computers, software, and web‑based applications.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
• Good organizational and time management skills and ability to be self‑directed.
• Ability to demonstrate good judgment.
• Good interpersonal skills.

• Effectively uses the nursing process in the delivery of patient care.
• Assess learning needs and implement teaching strategies appropriate for the diverse needs of patients, families, and other groups or disciplines.
• Communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources (human and fiscal) properly and serve as a leader and partner on the interdisciplinary team.
• Utilize data, information, and knowledge to evaluate and promote change in order to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Embrace concepts and behaviors that enhance customer satisfaction and employee morale and improve the profession of nursing.
• Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, including respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures, requesting permissions, and communication style.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards, or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
