Job Responsibilities- Act as a leader in the provision of patient care using the nursing process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses and Scope & Standards of Practice.
- Effectively delegate, direct and assist licensed and ancillary team members; assumes accountability for quality patient outcomes; exhibits sensitivity to cultural, ethnic and religious diversity.
- Maintain involvement in activities aimed toward the achievement of unit and the department’s strategic goals and objectives and demonstrate professional responsibility.
- Use the nursing process to deliver patient care, assess learning needs, implement teaching strategies, and communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources.
- Use data, information, and knowledge to evaluate and promote change in order to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Embrace concepts and behaviors that enhance customer satisfaction and employee morale and improve the profession of nursing.
- Adapt behavior to the specific patient population, including respecting privacy, providing appropriate introduction, explaining services, requesting permissions, and tailoring communication style.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Education
- Registered nurse diploma (required).
- Associate or bachelor's degree in nursing (preferred).
Experience
- None required.
Certifications
- Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice (required).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (required).
- Certification in clinical specialty area (preferred).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Proficiency in using computers, software, and web‑based applications.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Good organizational and time‑management skills and ability to be self‑directed.
- Ability to demonstrate good judgement.
- Heavy Work – Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Exposure to blood, body fluid and tissue, potential exposure to hazardous medications or waste.
- Job requires walking or standing to a significant degree, and may require pushing and/or pulling of materials.
