Position: Secondary Mathematics (Grades 7-12)
Secondary Mathematics Teacher (Grades 7-12)
The Secondary Mathematics Teacher is responsible for providing engaging, standards-based mathematics instruction to students in grades 7–12 within an alternative education and special education environment.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Plan and deliver differentiated mathematics instruction aligned with Pennsylvania Academic Standards and district curriculum.Teach a variety of mathematics courses, including but not limited to Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Statistics.Adapt lessons, assessments, and instructional strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students with disabilities and students enrolled in alternative education programs.Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), including specially designed instruction (SDI), progress monitoring, and data collection, as appropriate.Create a positive, trauma-informed classroom environment that fosters respect, accountability, and student engagement.Utilize evidence-based instructional practices and technology to support student achievement.Collaborate effectively with special education teachers, related service providers, behavioral support staff, administrators, and families to support student success.Implement positive behavior intervention strategies and maintain consistent classroom management practices.Assess student progress regularly and use data to inform instructional decisions and interventions.Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, progress reports, and other required documentation.Participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary team meetings, professional development activities, and other school-related functions.Support the mission and goals of the alternative education program by building meaningful relationships with students and promoting social-emotional growth alongside academic achievement.Comply with any other duties as assigned by the administration.Education, experience, and skills required:
Valid Pennsylvania Instructional Certificate in Mathematics 7–12 or appropriate certification required.Special Education certification or experience working with students with disabilities and/or in alternative education settings preferred.Knowledge of differentiated instruction, classroom management strategies, and evidence-based interventions for at-risk learners.Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.Demonstrated ability to establish positive relationships with students, families, and colleaguesAdditional eligibility qualifications:
Current, approved Act 34 (PA State Police), Act 151 (PA Child Abuse Registry) and Act 114-FBI Fingerprint clearances are required and must be renewed at appropriate, specific intervals pursuant to Act 153 of 2014 (revised Act 15 of 2015).Current, approved Act 126 Mandated Reporter Training certificate showing completion of a minimum of three (3) hours of training every five (5) years.Program/classification:

Reports to:
- Principal and/or their designee
Method of evaluation:
- Annual evaluations made by the principal and/or their designee in accordance with provisions established by the Schuylkill Intermediate Unit #29 Evaluation Process for Professional Employees.

This is a full-time position based on 185-day teachers' calendar. This includes sick and personal time off. Adjustments to the work schedule may occasionally be required to meet program or organizational needs. Attendance at work is a requirement of this position; any and all absences must be approved by the immediate supervisor.Must have transportation to work locations.Physical requirements:
