This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Telemetry/Observation Unit. The unit specializes in cardiac, medical, and surgical patients. It offers an individualized, comprehensive orientation program, a residency program for new graduates, and mentorship after orientation. Opportunities for committee participation and professional growth through a Clinical Ladder are available. Leadership presence is expected on every shift, and it serves as a steppingstone to an ICU/CCU career.

The role is PRN, requiring a minimum of 24 hours off shift per 6-week schedule, with 12-hour day/evening/night shifts, and weekend and holiday work as needed.

The Registered Nurse is responsible for implementing, directing, and coordinating patient care through the nursing process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This role includes recognition and treatment of physical and psychosocial changes unique to the age/population group served on the specific unit.

Key responsibilities include demonstrating safe medication practice, maintaining a professional image, accurately transcribing physician's orders, and demonstrating therapeutic communication skills. The role also involves attending staff/committee meetings and in-services, demonstrating leadership through the nursing process, and acting as a resource person regarding patient care. It requires responding to delays in a calm manner, analyzing assessment data, identifying priority problems, and documenting on the Plan of Care in PCS for patients and families.

The nurse must initiate and maintain Intravenous Therapy according to IV standards, respond appropriately to emergency situations, utilize proper body mechanics to prevent injury, and function as a virtual nurse as assigned.

Education:

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required;
Bachelor of Science in Nursing is preferred. Evidence of participation in educational programs to update and maintain current knowledge and clinical skills.

Experience:

Experience applying customer service behaviors and communication skills required. Previous nursing experience in specialty area preferred. Certifications/Licensure:
Eligible for or currently licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in Pennsylvania. Certification in specialty preferred. CPR certification required. ACLS required for Cardiovascular Services, CCU, Device Clinic, Emergency, IMCU, FBS, Tele Observation, PACU/SDS, or achieved within one year of start date. Proficiency in cardiac monitor interpretation required for PACU/SDS, IMCU, Tele Observation, CCU, Cardiac Rehab, Cardiovascular Services, Cath Lab, and Emergency.
