Program Supplier Assurance Engineer

As a Program Supplier Assurance Engineer at Raytheon, you will serve as the primary interface between our supplier base and internal stakeholders supporting critical and technically advanced Defense Programs. This position provides onsite supplier quality support to Letterkenny Army Depot (LEAD) product integration operations. Responsibilities include promoting and executing with a quality mindset, quality practices, and knowledge sharing. This individual should be able to manage a program and be able to collaborate across multiple functions.

In this role, you will also work closely with Letterkenny personnel and Raytheon Supplier Assurance and Program, to coordinate in-process inspections, manage containment activities for nonconformances, perform spot checks, respond to technical questions, and support the execution of Raytheon Source Inspection activities.

What you will do:

  • Primary Supplier Assurance interface for a defense program that promotes and executes quality practices.
  • Perform in-process inspections and verification activities to ensure compliance with engineering requirements, specifications, and workmanship standards.
  • Conduct source inspections and execute AS9102-compliant First Article Inspection (FAI) verifications.
  • Partner with Letterkenny staff managing nonconforming material processes, including identification, documentation, disposition coordination, and communication with internal teams and suppliers.
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve inspection checklists, job aids, and related quality documentation.
  • Support supplier requests for information and coordinate Return-to-Vendor (RTV) actions to ensure timely and accurate resolution.
  • Develop, track, and report on supplier quality metrics to drive transparency and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with a global Supplier Assurance team and interface with feeder suppliers to support quality alignment, issue resolution, and adherence to standards.
  • Ensure flow down of product requirements both internally and to sub-tier suppliers through PO requirements, Quality Notes, and Statements of Work. Interpret and explain these requirements to ensure supply base both understands and complies with these quality requirements.
  • Drive continuous product / process improvements of our supply base by identifying supplier risk & systemic performance issues and driving solutions through various tools/methodologies including Root Cause Corrective Actions,
  • Support containment activities associated with discrepant material, with assistance from functional stakeholders.
  • Drive the supplier corrective action process, review, approval and monitoring; assure containment, closed loop Root Cause Corrective Action is obtained; communicate issue and resolution to functional stakeholders.

Qualifications you must have:

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience. Relevant experience is in quality engineering, manufacturing, or related engineering discipline.
  • Working experience within a Quality Division at a commercial, defense, or aerospace company.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications we prefer:

  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)

  • Previous experience interpreting schematic drawings and hardware inspection techniques.
  • Previous experience generating and presenting to leadership and suppliers on key metrics and performance reviews.
  • Practical knowledge of industry technical standards (such as ANSI, CMMI, ASTM, etc.).
  • Effective written/verbal Communications Skills.
  • GD&T knowledge, understanding, and practical application.
  • Experience with cables and wiring harnesses, electro-mechanical assemblies, machined components, and/or final integration of end-item assemblies.
  • Practical knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean, ASQ, ISO 9001 Auditing.
  • Ability to implement modern Quality Assurance and Control methodologies such as Statistical Process Controls (SPC), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), and Continuous Improvement in a supplier setting.
  • Practical knowledge of Aerospace or commercial equivalent Preventative tools – APQP, PPAP, SPC, FMEA, etc.
  • Practical knowledge of Root Cause Corrective Action processes.
  • Practical knowledge of Special Manufacturing Processes (such as Welding, Painting & Plating) and their management.
  • Practical knowledge of First Article Inspection and AS9102 management.
  • Experience with hardware inspection techniques.
  • Practical knowledge of General Statistical Process Control.
  • Experience building and maintaining relationships with customers or partners (both internal and external to Raytheon), including experience in an international/global setting.
