* Assemble, disassemble and reassemble radars, computers, control vans, and electronic field maintenance equipment. Inspects, diagnoses malfunctions, troubleshoots to locate causes, and determines if items are economical for repair.
* Troubleshoot and diagnose both mechanical and electronic malfunctions.
* Modify and align the assemblies/subassemblies and associated equipment such as antenna systems, electronic cabinets, digital signal processors, and interconnecting circuitry.
* Accomplish checkout and alignment of the electronic equipment comprising the maintenance test sets and shop sets.
* Perform certified soldering operations in accordance with IPC J-Standards.
* Make operational tests and adjustments prior to releasing equipment for integration into complete systems. Plan the use of workers, equipment, facilities, materials and tools. Requirements Conditions of employment
* Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
* This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
* This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
* This position has a requirement to lift up to 40 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
* This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 20% of the time.
* This position may require a 1 year probationary period.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element):
Ability to do the work of a(n) Electronics Mechanic ~ without more than normal supervision.
-Ability to perform common tasks including: installs, overhauls, repairs, and modifications on a variety of electronic components such as antennas, pedestal wave guides, analog computer devices, transmitters, receivers, and similar electronic and electro-mechanical equipment;
Assemble and disassemble radars, computers, control vans, and electronic field maintenance equipment;
Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical equipment including switches, relays, resistors, transistors, tubes, transformers, etc. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
* Work involves standing on concrete floors, bending, stooping, and kneeling and occasionally, cramped or awkward positions. Continuously handles objects weighing from 10 to 40 pounds.
* Works in well-lighted, heated, and ventilated shop areas or missile sites where occasionally there is inclement weather. Subject to cuts, bruises, falls, and broken bones, and shock or burns caused by high voltage energy and soldering irons. Additional information
