Position: Design Engineer (Level 2 or 3)

Senior Project Manager

Shear Structural is looking for a full-time, licensed Senior Project Manager for our growing Chamblee, Georgia office. This leadership role is responsible for managing structural engineering projects from start through completion, ensuring exceptional client service, project profitability, quality deliverables, and successful team performance. Qualified candidates should possess strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, along with a proven track record of managing multidisciplinary project teams and maintaining strong client relationships.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment while balancing technical oversight, business objectives, and client needs.

This is an in‑office position based in Chamblee, Georgia.

Clients will include architects, developers, institutions, municipalities, engineers and contractors.

Project types will include adaptive reuse, education, healthcare, municipal, commercial, and more.

Requirements of Candidates
  • Professional Engineer license (PE, SE preferred)
  • 10‑20 years Professional design/engineering experience
  • Master’s in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering, preferred
  • Must be proactive, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be creative, collaborative and client‑service oriented
Responsibilities
  • Oversees, directs production of, and reviews project deliverables
  • Oversees structural analyses and design calculations
  • Oversees construction administrative tasks, including field site visits and shop drawing review
  • Serves as an internal leader, guiding/assisting staff with technical and business items, including service on internal firm initiatives
  • Serves as external QA/QC reviewer for firm projects
  • Engage with senior management in development of systems, processes, and projects for the company
  • Develop workload and scheduling/staffing projections for projects
  • Serve as point of contact for fee development, proposals, etc. with clients
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with existing clients and engage in marketing firm to new clients, develop leads and convert projects into additional work
  • Monitor industry-related sources to develop leads, conduct market research and analysis, and attend networking events to promote firm
  • Coach/mentor less experienced project managers/project engineers
Skill Sets

  • Experience with Revit, RAM, AutoCAD, Enercalc, Bluebeam, etc.
