The Community Support Coordinator serves as a frontline resource for pet owners, providing guidance, referrals, and support with the goal of keeping pets with the families who love them. The ideal candidate is empathetic, organized, and passionate about animal welfare. In addition to managing direct communication with pet owners and assisting with key operational tasks, this role has the potential to grow into a more community-centered outreach position - engaging with local partners, organizing events, and helping expand Life Line's impact throughout the community.

  • Manage all correspondence with pet owners seeking resources and services through in-person interactions, phone calls, emails, and form submissions.
  • Provide compassionate counseling to community members facing challenges with pet ownership by offering available resources or referrals to trusted community partners, with the goal of keeping pets with the people who love them whenever possible.
  • Ensure donated items are distributed to their appropriate locations in a timely and responsible manner.
  • Work collaboratively with shelter staff and volunteers to ensure smooth day-to-day operations and deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Conduct ongoing research on current and potential resources to ensure pet owners receive accurate and up-to-date information and support.
  • Take responsibility to maintain detailed and accurate records of all communications and interactions with pet owners to ensure continuity of care and service.
  • Assist in the administration and daily operations related to the intake of owner-surrendered pets, adoption returns, and general requests for pet help.
  • Coordinate medical appointments at the Community Animal Center for owned animals and arrange transportation to appointments when necessary.
  • Courageously support Life Line's mission to save lives by maintaining a comprehensive understanding of all shelter operations, programs, and services.
  • Respect, embrace, and celebrate diversity by always operating with a judgement-free mindset and welcome visitors with a friendly and professional demeanor.
  • Help build a community of animal welfare advocates by supporting and engaging the volunteers who aid Life Line.
  • Continue education by participating in Life Line's 40-hour annual training requirement.
  • Exhibit exceptional stewardship by maintaining a clean and tidy work area.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Potential Responsibilities as Capacity Allows:

  • Monitor community activities and maintain a calendar of events to increase visibility and promote awareness of Life Line's mission.
  • Build community engagement by organizing and participating in special events that support pet owners and reflect Life Line's mission and values.
  • Promote awareness of the organization’s work through community outreach efforts, including hosting fairs, attending neighborhood events, and distributing educational materials.
  • Develop relationships with local businesses, community leaders, and partners to assess community needs and help mobilize resources to address those needs.
