Modus AV is a growing technology company delivering high-performance audio/video, automation, and smart-technology solutions to commercial clients. We are seeking a driven, tech-savvy Commercial Technologist & Sales Engineer who can hit the ground running. This individual can think on their feet, solve problems independently, and proactively grow our commercial business.

This is a hybrid sales and technical role. You will own opportunities from first conversation through project closeout, while also serving as a hands-on technical resource for system design, installation oversight, and client support (providing backup to Residential sales and support when necessary). Duties & Responsibilities Sales & Business Development
  • Generate new business through networking, referrals, and proactive outreach to commercial clients, builders, designers, and architects
  • Lead client discovery conversations to define project scope, technical requirements, budget, and timelines
  • Build and maintain a qualified sales pipeline aligned with individual sales targets
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date opportunity data, forecasts, and client records in CRM (D-Tools preferred)
  • Provide consistent follow-up to advance opportunities through the sales cycle
  • Participate in internal pipeline reviews and forecasting discussions
  • Represent Modus AV professionally in all client, partner and co-worker interactions
Project & Technical Execution
  • Coordinate installation scheduling with clients, vendors, and the Modus AV operations team
  • Manage installations on schedule and within budget, assist in maintaining quality control throughout
  • Conduct site surveys and system design for audio/video, automation, and smart-technology projects
  • Responsible for onsite and remote technical support before, during, and after installation
  • Facilitate walkthroughs with clients and technicians upon project completion
Client Experience & Team Collaboration
  • Uphold an under-promise, over-deliver standard in every client and team interaction
  • Conduct post-installation follow-up to verify continued client satisfaction and generate referrals
  • Work with internal resources, outside partners, vendors, and subcontractors to improve sales, profitability, and best practices
  • Contribute to strategic planning across commercial, residential, and retail sales initiatives
  • Remain current on emerging trends, products, and technologies in the AV and automation space
  • Minimum 40 hours per week; extended hours as needed
  • Hybrid work environment — field, client sites, and remote
  • Monday–Friday schedule; occasional flexibility required for client or project needs
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in commercial or custom audio/video sales and/or installation
  • Demonstrated experience generating and closing new business — a proven sales track record is essential
  • Experience with system design and deployment of automation platforms (Savant preferred)
  • Solid understanding of AV installation practices, signal flow, and data networking
  • Experience using CRM and proposal tools (D-Tools or similar platforms strongly preferred)
  • High School Diploma required; college experience preferred

  • Proficient with both Mac and PC operating systems
  • Valid drivers license, reliable personal vehicle, satisfactory driving record, and current auto insurance
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

We are committed to attracting the right person at a compensation level that works for both parties. Pay is salary-based on experience plus commission. Commission is earned starting with the deposit, so you are paid quickly as deals close.

  • Base salary commensurate with experience
