Job Description Summary
As a Generator Repair Technician (Winder) you will perform operations involving the inspection, disassembly, assembly, repair, refurbishment, and maintenance of all mechanical and electrical components in Turbine Generators with emphasis on the Generator Rotating Field.
Job DescriptionAs a Winder you will:
Perform mechanical disassembly, refurbish & reassembly of generator rotors in high quality and timely fashion using induction heating machines, large propane torches, overhead cranes and various hand and power tools (i.e. removal and installation of couplings, fans, retaining rings, wedges, blocking, copper coils)
Perform work according to technical drawings and work procedures with minimal supervision
Braze copper winding connectors by propane torches and induction heaters.
Perform and assist with all generator's electrical diagnostic tests according to testing procedures.
Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues
Participate in continuous improvement projects.
Qualifications / RequirementsHigh School Diploma / GED or Equivalent or 2 years of relevant work experience
Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a mechanical or repair field
Eligibility RequirementsThis position is 100% onsite at GE Atlanta Service Center in Chamblee, GA.
Ability and willingness to work overtime, including off-hours, weekends, and holidays.
Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future
Must successfully complete a drug screen and background check
Desired CharacteristicsAssociate’s Degree / Trade School Degree
Minimum of 2 years of experience with small to large generators, electric motors, stator and/or electrical component winding
Minimum of 3 years of experience with assembling / disassembling end bells / retaining rings
Minimum of 3 years of experience brazing, either by torch or induction
Experience performing electrical testing
Apprenticeship card from state certified apprenticeship program
Pay TransparencyThe pay for this position is at $29.9327/hour.
This position is also eligible for a $1.00/hour shift differential hourly rate increase.
This posting is expected to close when a suitable candidate has been identified.
Employees are eligible for scheduled monthly pay increases and additional pay progression opportunities.
The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
